Tiger
Lesson 1 A private conversation Part 1 Listen and Read Last week I went to the theatre. I had a very good seat. The play was very interesting. I did not enjoy it. A young man and a young woman were sitting behind me. They were talking loudly. I got very angry. I could not hear the actors. I turned round. I looked at the man and the woman angrily. They did not pay any attention. In the end, I could not bear it. I turned round again. 'I can't hear a word!' I said angrily. ‘It's none of your business,' the young man said rudely. ‘This is a private conversation!' Part 2 Melting Words in Our Minds 1 theatre – thea-tre: What is a theatre? A building, yes, it is a building. It's a building with a stage. Actors play on the stage and people watch plays in a theatre. 2 seat: A seat is like a chair, but not a chair, because we can take a chair anywhere if we like it. But we can't move a seat. A seat is just there for you to sit there. 3. enjoy – en-joy: to enjoy something, you are pleased in something or doing something; to enjoy yourself, you have have fun, you have a good time for example, we enjoy ourselves in the theatre. 4. loudly – loud-ly: A sound can be low. A sound can be high or loud. So you can speak loudly – in a loud way. In the text, the writer was angry, so he looked at the man and the woman angrily – in an angry way. 5 attention – at-ten-tion: Please give me your attention. So you look at me and listen to me. Do you understand the word – attention? If not, pay your attention to me. I'll tell you again. You listen to me and look at me. You give your attention to me. 6 rudely – rude-ly: People are not polite. They are rude, because they do something bad, or they do things rudely – in a bad way. 7. conversation – con-ver-sa-tion: You have a talk with people, so you have a conversation with them. Ok, I'd like to have a conversation with you about our lessons. Part 3 Melting Grammar in Our Mouths Last week i went to the theatre. Did I go to the theatre last week? Yes, I did. Where did I go last week? I went to the theatre last week. When did I go to the theatre? I went to the theatre last week. I had a very good seat. Did I have a very good seat? Yes, i did. What did I have? I had a very good seat. The play was very interesting. Was the play interesting? Yes, it was. How was the play? The play was interesting. I didn't enjoy it. Did I enjoy it? No, I didn't. What didn't I enjoy? I didn't enjoy the play. A young man and a young woman were sitting behind me. Who were sitiing behind me? A man and a woman. Who were they sitting behind? Me, yes, me, behind me. They were talking loudly. What were they doing? They were tolking loudly. I said they were sitting and talking behind me, not sit and talked. Why? Because I was sitting in front of them and the actors were playing on the stage at that moment. See you!
