01 approach – to come near to somebodyor something in distance or time: The exams were approaching. / A storm is approaching. / Ididn’t know he was approaching behind me. (及物動詞用法:Asyou approach the village, you’ll see a little church.) 02 fall – (1) to go down quicklytowards the ground, (2) to suddenly stop standing, (3) to become lower or less:He fell from hisbike yesterday. / Bombs fell in the town. / He lost his balance and fell intothe water. / The temperature falls quickly at night. 03 leave – to go away from a place ora person: The train leaves at 9: 45. / We are leavingfor Beijing tomorrow. / -- Is John still there? – No, he has already left.
04 set off (set out) – to start ajourney: We setoff for the town at six-thirty in the morning. 05 turn – to move round or in adifferent direction; to become different: She turned round and walked away. / The weather has turned cold. 06 arrive – to come to a place orhappen: What timedoes the plane arrive? / Spring has arrived. 07 fly – to move through air or travelin a plane; to move quickly: Time flies. / In autumn some birds fly to warmer countries. /John will fly to Beijing next week. 08 move – to go from one place toanother; to change the position you are in; to go to live another place: They sold theirhouse in Chengdu and moved to Chongqing. / The train is moving slowly. / Wemoved to the front of the bus. 09 sit down – to move your bodydownwards so you are sitting: John came over and sit down next Mary. 10 wait – to stay somewhere untilsomething happen or someone comes: If she’s late, please wait for her. / I waited at the gate ofthe school, but he didn’t come. 11 climb – to go up towards the top ofsomething; to move to higher place: They climbed the mountain two hours later. / The plane isclimbing in the air.
